Visit to the Rochester Jewish Book Festival by Jerry Witkovsky, author of The Grandest Love: Inspiring the Grandparent-Grandchild Connection,” on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014:
“Jerry’s book is a ‘love letter’ to grandparents and grandchildren, and those who heard him speak in Rochester said his thoughtful and inspiring discussion was one of the highlights of this year’s festival.
Jerry engaged audience members with touching reminiscences from his own life and challenged them to strengthen the multigenerational bonds in their families through creative practices, such as establishing a living legacy foundation, emphasizing ‘teaching and learning,’ and sharing memories and stories.
Jerry charmed his Rochester audience with his humor, sage advice and innovative suggestions, and the program sparked a lively question-and-answer session.
In a society where aging can bring invisibility, Jerry is a cheerleader for the older generation and shows how family elders can positively impact their grandchildren’s lives. After hearing Jerry, I’m sure those audience members who weren’t already grandparents left eager to experience the “grandest love” and try out some of Jerry’s suggestions for fostering family connections.”
